Pregnancy

In collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund, HealthWay air-cleaning devices will be installed in the UNPFA Country offices.

PULASKI, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES , August 22, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ -- On May 19th, the United Nations Population Fund announced their partnership with HealthWay Home Products, Inc.

Based out of Upstate New York, HealthWay is recognized as the global leader in providing solutions to major indoor air quality issues. HealthWay patented Disinfecting Filtration System (DFS) technology, is proven to be 40x more efficient than HEPA filters and captures 99.99% of all particles down to .007 micron in size. HealthWay has set itself apart from other companies in the industry by being able to accommodate a space as small as your home or office to a whole industrial facility.

In collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund, HealthWay air cleaning devices will be installed in the UNPFA Country Office, located in Jhamsikhel, Lalitpur, Nepal. The UNPFA is the "lead UN agency for delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person’s potential is fulfilled." According to the UNPFA, "sexual health and reproductive health problems are a leading cause of death and disability for women in the developing world." Their mission is to support reproductive health care for woman and children, increase access, education and awareness of modern contraceptives, training health workers to ensure healthy childbirth, prevent gender based violence, and abandonment of female genital mutilation (UNFPA, April 2017). The efforts of the United Nations Population Fund have not gone unnoticed. Since the organization started working in 1969, the number, and rate, of women dying from complications of pregnancy and childbirth has been halved (UNPFA).

Recent studies have shown that there is a link between exposure to air pollution and premature birth, birth defects, low birth weight, and infertility. "Ambient Air Pollution and Preterm Birth in the Environment and Pregnancy Outcomes Study at the University of California, Los Angeles" found that ultrafine particles can be especially dangerous for pregnant women. In fact, it showed that ultrafine particles are deposited in the lungs and eventually move into extra-pulmonary organs, which may transfer toxic compounds to the fetus and the placenta. The experimental data demonstrated that the toxins can cross the placenta and reach fetal organs.

Vinny Lobdell, Global President at HealthWay stated, "serving society and humanity is our greatest responsibility, this partnership represents a way for our company to use our strengths and resources to serve those who aren't yet in a position to serve themselves. We are grateful for this opportunity."
