‘You will never stop…’: Amitabh Bachchan quotes father’s poem amid India-Pakistan tensions

Amitabh Bachchan broke his silence on 'Operation Sindoor' by sharing a powerful poem by his father and an emotional tribute to a terror attack victim. His delayed response sparked mixed reactions, with many trolling him for staying quiet earlier.

New Delhi: After 19 days of silence on social media, Amitabh Bachchan responded to public pressure and criticism by sharing a heartfelt post on the recent India-Pakistan conflict and ‘Operation Sindoor’. His post came amid heavy trolling, as many people were asking why he hadn’t spoken about the military action that followed the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

Since May 7, Big B had been sharing blank posts on X, only writing numbers. His last proper post was on April 22, which read, “The silent X chromosome. The brain has decided.” This silence led many users to flood his posts with comments asking him to speak up.

On May 10, a ceasefire was declared between India and Pakistan after India conducted air strikes on multiple terrorist camps in Pakistan in response to the Pahalgam attack. Amid this high-tension period, several celebrities spoke out, but Amitabh remained quiet—until now.

In his latest post, Big B shared a poem by his father, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, quoting lines from “Agnipath”, “You will never stop, you will never turn back, you will never bow down… Take an oath, take an oath, take an oath. Agnipath! Agnipath! Agnipath!”

Along with the poem, he shared a powerful description of the trauma faced by a widow after witnessing her husband’s brutal murder during a terrorist act.

In the emotional note, he imagined the widow pleading for her life and being told to survive only to spread the horror of what she had seen. He then linked this pain to a symbolic moment from his father’s poetry, where a daughter asks for sindoor (vermilion) even when the world is full of ashes — calling this moment “Operation Sindoor.”

At the end of the post, he wrote “Jai Hind, Jai Hind ki Sena,” saluting the Indian armed forces.

However, despite the strong emotional tone of his message, many users continued to troll him. Some said he reacted too late, while others questioned the meaning of his cryptic posts. One comment read, “Sir, now the matter is over, which oath are you reminding us of?” Another said, “You took too long to come, sir.”
