“A Minecraft Movie,” starring Jack Black and Jason Momoa, is now available to watch at home.
As of Tuesday, May 13 (5/13/2025), the video game adaptation is officially out on premium video-on-demand (PVOD), allowing fans to either purchase or rent it digitally.

To watch “A Minecraft Movie” online, you can buy it for $24.99 or rent it for $19.99 through major digital platforms like Apple TV and Amazon Prime Video. Rentals allow viewers 30 days to start the film and 48 hours to finish watching after hitting play.
The digital release includes access to five behind-the-scenes featurettes for those who purchase the film.
While the movie is not yet available on any subscription-based streaming service like Max, it is expected to arrive there eventually. Based on Warner Bros.’ past release patterns, “A Minecraft Movie” may begin streaming on Max sometime around mid-2025.

The DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K versions of “A Minecraft Movie” will release on June 24, and are available now for pre-order on Walmart and Amazon.

It set multiple box office records, including the highest domestic opening weekend for a video game adaptation, with $162.8 million, according to Entertainment Weekly. It also became the top-earning film of 2025 in the U.S. at the time and reached the $200 million domestic mark faster than any other movie that year, according to Variety.
Critically, the film received mixed responses. Rotten Tomatoes reported a 47% critic score, while Metacritic gave it a 45/100. However, general audiences responded more favorably, with an 86% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
The movie also sparked a viral audience participation trend around the “Chicken Jockey” scene, leading to widespread disruptions in theaters, including thrown objects and even live animals being brought in.
