Saudi Arabia, Pakistan condemn US attacks on Iran

KABUL (Pajhwok): Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have condemned the US bomb attacks on Iran, with Islamabad emphasizing that, under the United Nations Charter, Iran has the legitimate right to defend itself.

Saudi Arabia has called on the international community to find a political solution to end the crisis.

In a statement, the Foreign Office said Pakistan condemns the US attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities, which follow the series of attacks by Israel. “We are gravely concerned at the possible further escalation of tensions in the region.”

“We reiterate that these attacks violate all norms of international law and that Iran has the legitimate right to defend itself under the UN charter.”

“The unprecedented escalation of tension and violence, owing to ongoing aggression against Iran is deeply disturbing. Any further escalation of tension will have severely damaging implications for the region and beyond.”

The statement added: “We stress the importance of respecting civilian lives and property and call for an immediate end to the hostilities. All parties must adhere to international law, especially international humanitarian law.”

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia also condemned the attacks, expressing deep concern over recent developments in Iran, particularly the attack on its nuclear facilities by the United States.

Saudi Arabia stressed the need for comprehensive efforts toward restraint, de-escalation, and avoiding further tension.

The oil-rich kingdom urged the international community to recognize the sensitivity of the current situation and seek a political solution that would end the crisis and open a new chapter toward achieving security and stability in the region.
